Setting up an alert
Set up an alert with customised settings to be notified when matching weed records are published.
SWAT provides the flexibility to set up multiple alerts for different combinations of weed types and locations. For example, you might set up separate alerts for:
- New or uncommon weeds recorded anywhere in the South Island
- Any species on the New Zealand list of environmental weeds recorded in the Wellington suburbs of Brooklyn and Newtown
- Species managed under exclusion or eradication programmes in the Canterbury Regional Pest Management Plan when they are recorded in the neighbouring Otago region
- A specific weed species (for example, moth plant) when it is recorded in the Whangārei district or within 1 km of the district boundary
You can set up as many alerts as you like. If you’re interested in different types of alerts, it’s best to create a separate alert for each one. Each alert you create will trigger its own notification when matching weed records are published.
The following pages will guide you through selecting weed categories or species, selecting the locations for your alert, and applying any advanced settings to refine it further.
