SWAT uses data from other sources to notify you about weed records based on your alert settings.

This data may contain errors. A record may name the wrong species. This is more likely for records from citizen science sites such as iNaturalist. These sites publish records to the Global Biodiversity Information Facility (GBIF). SWAT gets its weed records from GBIF.

SWAT also uses New Zealand species names, origins (such as native or exotic), and weed categories from other sources. These details may be wrong too.

Before you take any action, check both the species and how it has been classified in a New Zealand context.

GBIF records change occasionally and may be updated or removed. SWAT is usually updated daily, but it may not show the latest changes. For the latest information, check the original data source.
